11/8/2023 0 Comments Denver nuggets roster 2012![]() ![]() With the two most public faces of Nuggets leadership suddenly gone from the picture – one by choice, the other by the axe – the future direction of the team was enshrouded in doubt, and irrespective of deeply divided fan and media opinions on whether Karl should have been fired, or how potentially damaging Ujiri’s departure might be, the deeds were done and for better or worse the reset button had been hit definitively. But he still has the swingman skills to play in this league - but he’ll probably need to play in the D-League first to learn the nuances of the pro game. The dramatic rollercoaster ride in such rapid-fire succession from great regular season success to yet another playoff failure to what-in-the-world-is-happening was bizarre, unprecedented, and seemed to have both the Nuggets organization and fan base in a tailspin. ![]() Quincy Miller, SF, 19, 6-9, 210, Baylor: The second-round pick was one of the best prep players in his class before a knee injury. Denver believes he can be an asset in seasons to come, but probably not this season. He’s still working on his shot and can look lost on defense. Karl could try to take advantage of Hamilton as a 3-point threat too.Įvan Fournier, SG, 19, 6-6, 200, France: The rookie has a confidence beyond his years. J ordan Hamilton, SG, 21, 6-7, 220, Texas: Can he crack the rotation in his second year? Hamilton had some nice scoring outputs during the summer league, but he is also inconsistent on the defensive end. Julyan Stone, PG, 23, 6-6, 200, UTEP : He played sparingly last season as a rookie, but the Nuggets adore this undrafted floor general, who sees the game from a fascinating perspective, figuratively and literally, considering the fact that he’s such a tall point guard. He played valiantly for Denver down the stretch last season, which caught the eye of Karl, who believes Koufos can be in the rotation this season.Īnthony Randolph, PF, 23, 6-11, 225, LSU: Remember when the Nuggets got Randolph? His acquisition was overshadowed by Iguodala’s, but the Nuggets are excited about the untapped potential in Randolph, a freakishly athletic player who has yet to find a home in the NBA. Kosta Koufos, C, 23, 7-0, 265, Ohio State: The big guy is a gym rat who worked diligently all summer. He also can do damage with 3-pointers, as he did at times last season, his first in Denver. But the Nuggets hope he can be a versatile scorer and help the team on the defensive end.Ĭorey Brewer, SF, 26, 6-9, 188, Florida: This energy guy helped the team win numerous games by outhustling opponents on both ends of the floor. He was in China for some of last season, and then he promptly suffered some injuries. Wilson Chandler, SF, 25, 6-8, 225, DePaul: He’s kind of the forgotten guy. Karl hopes Miller and McGee can log big minutes on the court together. But his leaping ability and long arms make him a weapon.Īndre Miller, PG, 36, 6-2, 200, Utah: He could go scoreless and still be a factor for Denver because of his intelligent passing. He’s still learning and piecing together an offensive game. JaVale McGee, C, 24, 7-0, 252, Nevada: Fans saw glimpses of greatness in the Lakers series, but he was invisible in other games. He worked on low-post moves with Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon this summer. K enneth Faried, PF, 22, 6-8, 228, Morehead State: This voracious rebounder was third in the voting for rookie of the year despite sitting the bench for the first part of last season. He can bulldoze to the basket from the perimeter, drawing fouls and getting tough lay-ins. He can dart down the floor in transition and effectively guard any opponent but the center.ĭanilo Gallinari, SF, 24, 6-10, 225, Italy: After an injury-plagued 2011-12 season, Gallo has high hopes of being a factor and leader this season. Coach George Karl wants Lawson to be more aggressive - as a player and as a leader.Īndre Iguodala, SG, 28, 6-6, 207, Arizona: This acquisition made Denver a legitimate contender to finish in the top four in the West. Ty Lawson, PG, 24 years old, 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, North Carolina: Lawson ascended against the Lakers with games of 24, 25, 25 and 32 points.
